You feel the night’s loneliness
as you watch the pumpkin-colored sun

Seagulls cry loudly
as they circle overhead,
drops of salty water touch your lips,
sea spray cleanses your soul
when waves move in from the ocean.
You walk along the aged shore
where others have traveled
reaching out for a fragile thread.
