Moving Day
I watch
as you pile clothes over your arm.
The bed that once moved
with entangled bodies
is now still.
Your ring –
a symbol of our love is tossed on the bureau.
Brown boxes stacked
in the corner
await their departure.
In the living room
an ebony piano
like a menacing omen
reiterates our differences.
Soon someone else’s memories
will make their home here.
